A 2004 post election poll reported that 93% of voters believe the public as the right to know the results of performance evaluations for hospital, physicians and nursing homes. The Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS) has formed a committee, known as the National Committee on Quality Assurance(NCQA) dedicated to ensuring the HEDIS metrics are conducted and recorded on health plans, disease management providers, behavioral health organization and physicians. Sixty-six percent of employers encourage employees to access provider performance ratings when selecting healthcare providers.
